Lovely Spacious Duplex by Spacelab Architecture
This duplex was originally a two storey apartment. As the apartment was renovated, the idea is making some changes to create spacious kitchen, unify the living area by repositioning the fireplace, plus rearranging the bathrooms and bedrooms. The duplex itself is located in the fourth and the fifth floor of a five floor building.
At the fourth floor, all the living areas are located. It’s where the living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms are located. At the fifth floor, which is the top floor of the building, an extra living area was created with a kitchenette and a toilet as the addition. Since this floor is the top floor, it opens out to a small pool glazed located on one side of the roof.
The materials used in the duplex are a combination between natural materials, such as antiqued wood and lava stone; with modern materials, such as corian, tinted glass, and lacquer. The piece is also quite colorful, since each space is distinguished by its own color like orange for main kitchen or yellow for the kitchenette, green for the main bathroom, etc.
The staircase to connect both floors was made of metal pan filled with wooden planks. To finish it, the side of the staircase was covered with greige tinted glass. This spacious and functional duplex looks so lovely in its contemporary design. Some furniture, like coffee table and beds, are custom design for the project.
